The USC Annenberg Strategic Communication and PR Center research team collected information from top PR/communication practitioners during the 4th Quarter of 2011 and received more than 1,000 responses. Participants selected for inclusion had to pass a rigorous screening process, and eligible participants had to score more than 50 points based on responses to a list of decision-making responsibilities. They also had to serve as the top or report directly to the top communicator in their respective organization. The final completed survey sample totaled 620.
